Vegetable Oil + Lye water à Soap + Water + Vegetable Glycerin
What is the history of true soap? Thousands of years ago, soap was found by Egyptians when the rain wash away their cooking fire and white solids were found near the river. They used the solids to wash away dirt and oil. The white solid was soap and it was made from the fat (from cooking) dripping down onto the camp fire wood ash. The wood ash was mixed with rain water to form lye water and when it was mixed with oil, the result is pure natural soap.
What is the difference between soaps and chemical "soap" detergents? Many so-called “soap” in the market contains chemicals that mimic soap properties. Chemical detergents can feel drying after use whereas traditional cold process soap (which retains naturally formed vegetable glycerin) can leave skin feeling soft.
